Miltenberg to Lohr
The Vinhotel was actually in the adjacent town of Burgstadt just to the north which gave me a slightly quicker start to the day - overcast again and then later light drizzle.
Midday at Wertheim - another picturesque German village. An hour later there was Marktheidenfeld, and now Lohr for the night. In just 3 days in just a tiny slice of the country I have now seen many. They are good, but busy with other German tourists. How many of these tourist towns can there be? There must be 2 types of Germans - those who live in these historic places and those who don't and visit them. The pervading colour of this region is brown - evident on the rock faces along the river. These rocks have been the dominant building material, although alas newer buildings and bridges use coloured bricks and concrete. My first red wine of the trip with dinner tonight. It was recommended to me but reminded me of the reds I drank during my callow youth - perhaps the young blond German was right.
About 75 kms for the day.
