From Frankfurt to Aschaffenburg
The first day of long trip has many factors and emotions to deal with. The excitement of the new, the unexpected, the challenges and the separation from loved ones and the familiarity of home. Overwhelming all of these feelings is jet lag and the first event - cycling out of a major airport, namely Frankfurt. The idea of seeing stuff and the local way of life is not a priority.
Like the flight here, day 1 was easy. There was a sense of serenity about it. The weather was cool after overnight rain and the river peaceful with Frankfurt receding behind me.
An early finish to the day after a leisurely 71 km ride then a late afternoon nap with the alarm set for dinner. I slept through the alarm waking about 1 am, then back to sleep again - a perfect way to catch up on sleep after little sleep during the flight over.
